| There is a need for point of sale systems, If you own a restaurant, bar, business of any kind you need a cash register that does more then open the drawer to take money. You need an accountant that adds things up, keeps track of your sales etc. There are the big players out there that you can purchase, however since this market is so specialized its hard to afford a solution that works and does the things you need it. |
MYFREEPOS.net (FREE BUT NOT FREE POS SYSTEM)
My find was FREEPOS.net yes it says free and technically it is for two stations. However its better to not look at as free but inexpensive. The completely free version gives you what you need for simple functions. However you don't have your name printed on the receipt, you are missing reporting functions and limited on printer types you can connect. Get this for testing to make sure your happy with the software but a company that makes a product you like won't stay around if they don't make money.
For 99.00 per station to get a unlocked and registered copy, this one you add you business name to the receipts.
You get updates as they occur, additional reports, carry out and delivery orders, the list goes on and on.
Requirements:
Basic PC, Touch screen, Cash drawer, Receipt printer, Kitchen Printer (If you have a kitchen)
The PC can be older one era 2008 - POS is not hardware intensive. It can run on Windows XP without issues.
SETUP:
Get your PC OS installed, updated and activated. Once that is done install SKYDRIVE, DROPBOX or your choice of FREE CLOUD SERVICES available. (We are going to use this for offsite backup)
For my example I am using a Virutal Machine Running Windows 7 64Bit OS. Please follow my guides to installing the system.
